THE BEGINNING

The Cannanore Shop

P. Abdurahman Kutty opened the first store on the historic SM Street in Calicut, a city that has always been India's crossroads of cloth, trade, and culture. A small shop, a big dream.

THE SECOND GENERATION

The Cannanore Shop

Following her father’s steps and guided by her own intuitive business sense, PT Safiya became the store’s unwavering compass. From afar, she directed operations with clarity and care, shaping a legacy of trust, loyalty, and enduring human connection.
1992

THE THIRD GENERATION

Thottathil Textiles

Guided by his grandfather and mother, PT Abdul Rasheed entered The Cannanore Shop as a teenager in 1965. When he later founded Thottathil Textiles, Rasheed carried the family vision forward with exuberant warmth and a genuine love for Indian textile craft. Passionate about fabrics and traditional techniques, he connected deeply with people from all walks of life, sharing the stories, authenticity, and artistry woven into every piece.
2015

THE FOURTH GENERATION

Thottathil Silks & Cottons

Following in his father’s footsteps, Abdulla Reejal joins the family store and launches a curated online collection. Guided by authenticity, he explores new ways to celebrate fabrics, emphasizing meaningful designs and attentive service that connect tradition with today.
